Meet your local guide at your hotel for an original city tour using Bangkok’s excellent public transport network. First walk to the nearest station to board the Skytrain for a ride to Saphan Taksin on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. Continue by public boat to Tha Thien pier where you disembark to visit Wat Po, the home of the Reclining Buddha. Continue to visit the Grand Palace, the revered royal monument that is also home to the mysterious Emerald Buddha. Appropriate dress is required. In the afternoon, walk or tuk-tuk across the royal fields of Sanam Luang up to Khao San Road, then on to Rachadamnoen, from where you take a tuk-tuk to reach the end of the avenue and the historical klong (canal) Saen Saap. Board the klong ‘bus-boat’ and cross the city to the west. Disembark for a short walk in Ratchathewi to visit Jim Thompson’s House Museum. You may like to go shopping in one of the 5 huge shopping complex of the area (MBK, Siam Square, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, Siam Paragon) before returning to your hotel.
