Description:
Private day trip from Belgrade, Serbia, to Novi Sad and Sremski Karlovci
Pick up from your Belgrade hotel and drive to Novi Sad, considered to be the cultural heart of Serbia – it’s nickname is the Athens of Serbia, and from the mid-19th century until WWII nearly every Serbian writer, poet, journalist and politician had spent part of his career here. The country’s second largest city also stands on the banks of the Danube, overlooked by the impressive Petrovaradin fortress which hosts the famous EXIT music festival at the beginning of July, attracting top-notch bands and stars and crowds of over 150,000. Visit the fortress to admire the panoramic views of the town and river, and explore some of its underground tunnels. Tour the charming old quarter, Stari Grad, and see some of its numerous churches – Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant – and its grand architecture, reminiscent of many more famous central European cities.
