Burford, one of England’s prettiest small medieval towns in Cotswolds is exclusive places to shop, eat, drink and stay. The name Burford is said to mean a defended settlement by a ford.
Burford is situated 20 miles west of Oxford at the crossing of the A40 with the A361. London and Birmingham are approximately one and a half hours drive away. Oxford, Cheltenham, Swindon and Stratford-upon-Avon are all about half an hour.
The Burford Festival runs from Friday 7 to Sunday 16 June. It is a festival of music (Blues, chorale, classical, jazz and folk), literary events, special interest talks, the Cotswold Heritage day with stalls and other events, and Burford’s Open Gardens. There is something for everyone.
