Day tours in Sofia – meet your guide, car and driver at your hotel in Sofia and firstly drive out to foothills of Mount Vitosha to visit Boyana Church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to admire its beautiful medieval frescoes of saints and martyrs, as well as those of St George Rotunda, the earliest building in the country back in the city centre. Continue to the magnificent Alexander Nevski Cathedral, the Church of St Nikolay, Sveta Nedelia Church and the Banya Bashi Mosque which is the only surviving mosque in the city after 500 years of Ottoman rule, and then turn your attention to Sofia’s more secular attractions, visiting the Academy of Sciences, and the National History Museum, so large that only 10% of its exhibits are on display. Much of this tour is on foot, but private transfers are included where necessary.
