Nestled in the bays are several lovely medieval towns to visit, such as Kotor, once known as ‘the bride of the Adriatic’, protected by fortified walls and filled with ancient churches and grand mansions, and seafaring Perast that was a wealthy and beautiful port belonging to the republic of Venice for over 350 years, and which now boasts 19 churches, 16 mansions and 9 defensive towers.
