Description:
Fascinating day trip to Edfu and Kom Ombo temples from Luxor
After a two hours drive from Luxor to Edfu, visit the best preserved temple in Egypt – the imperial temple dedicated to Horus, the god of vengeance, sky, protection and war. The name means “falcon”, and according to mythology, the temple was a place where a god with a falcon head took revenge on Seth, the god of the desert, for the killing of his father Osiris. Every year Egyptians commemorate this event in an event at the temple.
After lunch continue to the unique Temple of Kom Ombo. Its uniqueness lies at the front gate which has a double entrance, each symbolizing a different god – Haroeries and Sobek. The Temple of Kom Ombo was built in honour of the ancient falcon-headed god Horus and the crocodile headed god Sobek, an aggressive god associated with fertility and the army.
