Pick up from your Shanghai hotel and drive to Shanghai’s most modern suburb, Pudong. The 474m Financial Tower is one of the tallest buildings in Shanghai and of course there are marvellous views from the top-floor observation deck. The Grand Hyatt Hotel is found between floors 53 and 87 of Jinmao Tower, and as you leave the ultra-fast lifts at the hotel reception which travel at 9 metres per second, turn around and gasp at the breathtaking barrel atrium beneath your feet. Continue to Shanghai’s landmark Oriental Pearl TV Tower. It stands in the Pudong district on the opposite bank of the Hangpu River to the Bund and its space-age style makes it one of the most striking buildings in China with its tripod base and pink spheres. Just like a crazy rocket!
