Explore houses over 400 years old, wander the village's narrow alleyways, visit local temples, and most interesting of all, chat with friendly locals.
Description:
Private day trip from Hanoi to a quaint village and beautiful hilltop temple
Pick up from your Hanoi hotel by private car and local guide and drive about 35 miles west of the city through the Red River Delta to the historic village of Duong Lam, well-known for its quaint houses made from laterite rock, passing rice fields and farmers, and pausing at Phung Hung Temple, dedicated to one of Vietnam’s ancient heroes, and at the atmospheric Mia Pagoda to admire its 287 Buddhist statues. Take lunch in a 100-year-old house. Then head back to Hanoi by car, with a stop along the way at Tay Phuong Pagoda, ‘the Pagoda of the West’, dates from the 8th century and there are 239 steps up to it – at the top there are wonderful views of the mountain, fields and villages below. After a visit to one of these temples, arrive back at your hotel in Hanoi. You may like to take a part of the journey from Duong Lam by bicycle.
