Description:
A unique and varied day tour from Dubrovnik
Pick up from your Dubrovnik hotel or cruise ship by your private car and driver and English-speaking local guide, for a fantastic excursion from Dubrovnik! Drive along the Peljesac peninsula, a spectacular 40-mile stretch of land running north from Dubrovnik along the coast, where vines flourish on the well-drained, sunny slopes. First visit Croatia’s oldest arboretum, Trstena, a delightful exotic garden on the coast. Then call at the 14th century town of Ston to sample their famous oysters and mussels and to admire the town’s 3-mile long defensive wall that snakes over the hillside rather like a miniature version of the Great Wall of China. Vines have flourished here on the Peljesac peninsula since the time of the Greeks, and some fine wines are produced, notably the celebrated Dingac wine (also known as the King of Croatian red wines) from the plavac mali grapes which are similar to the Californian Zinfandel. Grapes are picked by hand as the terrain is so steep and rocky. Taste wines in the village of Kuna, and continue to the Matusko cellar in Potomje.
