Description:
Day tour in Bosnia from Sarajevo to Mostar
Pick up at your Sarajevo hotel by your private car and driver and head around 2 ½ hours to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mostar where you meet your local guide for a walking tour. Mostar’s most famous sight is the graceful and instantly recognisable bridge over the River Neretva which has been painstakingly reconstructed since the siege of the early 1990s with the original blocks of stone recovered from the river. It remains a symbol of reconciliation and international co-operation, with Bosnians living on one side and Croats on the other, as the Turkish and the Christians have always done here. Visit the Old Bridge Museum and explore the nearby bazaar where there are coppersmiths, artists and antique dealers. Visit the 17th century Koshki Mehmed Pasha Mosque, climbing the minaret for a panoramic view over the old town and river, the modern Roman Catholic Cathedral and a traditional Turkish residence, the Kajtaz House. Enjoy lunch at a traditional inn, and then have some free time to wander through the old streets (a map is provided) before returning by car to your hotel in Sarajevo.
