Overview:
Terracotta Warriors day trip to see the Terracotta Warriors of Xian, one of China's favourite attractions, and a visit to 6,000 year old settlement.
Description:
The unmissable Terracotta Warriors private day tour from Xian
Pick up from your Xian hotel and drive 15 miles out of the city to the exhibition halls where the Terracotta Warriors have stood guard for 2200 years over the tomb of China’s first emperor. Originally brightly painted, carefully modelled and individualised by hand, the 7000 soldiers have been painstakingly put together again where damaged along with their clay chariots, horses and weapons, and replaced in traditional battle formation in the pits where they were buried along with their emperor. They are a remarkable sight! Continue to the 6000 year-old remains of Banpo village, discovered by accident when a factory was being built in 1953, and it is actually one of the most important archaeological finds of the Neolithic age anywhere in the world. The remains of this 200-300-strong village have been preserved, and its huts, kilns and tombs are on display in a fascinating museum where you can see the domestic implements, farming tools and other items of the time.
