Overview:
An unusual half-day tour of Shanghai - the hip hang-outs of the super-cool!
Description:
Enjoy the unexpected on this private Shanghai sightseeing tour
Pick up from your Shanghai hotel and drive to Taikang Lu, Shanghai’s trendy ‘art zone’ developed around an old candy factory which was transformed into the International Artists Factory. This, together with other similar projects, attracted artists and designers to set up their studios and boutiques in the shikumen houses that at the time offered cheap rents. The attractive old lanes and buildings of the area, where native Shanghaians still hang out their washing and sit on their doorsteps, contrast nicely with the avant-garde fashion, art, interior design and bars. Also visit Moganshan Lu, home to over 100 artists and many hot and hip new galleries, such as M50, once a virtually derelict and abandoned warehouse district, and Bridge 8, formerly the Shanghai Car Brakes Factory, now home to international architects, designers, production studios and the like.
