Description:
Private excursion through the history of Kosovo from the Romans to Mother Teresa
Meet your local English-speaking guide, car and driver at your hotel in Pristina for a private full-day tour of the Kosovo plains that surround Pristina. First visit the magnificent medieval Gracanica Monastery whose frescoes have earned it UNESCO World Heritage Site listing, and continue to the ruins of the Roman town of Ulpiana, once the most beautiful town in Illyria but destroyed by rampaging Huns and the Goths in the 5th century. Drive to Gjilan to see the old mosque and town centre and after enjoying lunch in a traditional restaurant visit a tiny Catholic church in the village of Letnica. In 1917 a 7-year-old girl called Agnesa Bojaxhiu first visited the church, and found her calling to be a nun – she became Mother Teresa. Return to your hotel in Pristina.
